Cell Phone Use Policy

This policy provides guidelines for using cell phones in Bizzell Memorial Library and what to do if you experience a disruption. At OU Libraries, we expect you to be respectful of everyone using the library and ask that you follow this policy out of courtesy for others.

Areas Where You Cannot Use Your Cell Phone

You are prohibited from using your cell phone in the Bizzell Memorial Library on the 2nd and 3rd floors, as well as in the Great Reading Room. Please turn off your ringer in these areas. If you receive a call while in these areas, please move to the elevator lobbies on these floors to continue your conversations.

How to Report a Cell Phone Disruption

If you are disturbed by someone using a cell phone in a cell phone-prohibited area, you can ask security personnel for assistance. They will help by explaining the policy to the cell phone user. Security personnel are located at the main Circulation Desk. This is the same procedure we use to enforce our No Noise policy in study areas.
