Zarrow Center Access & Use Policy

Located on Lower Level 2 of Bizzell Memorial Library, the Zarrow Family Faculty and Graduate Student Center is a space dedicated to supporting the research and teaching needs of OU faculty and graduate students in a central campus location. Refer to this policy for information on accessing the center and the proper use of its resources.

Who Can Access the Zarrow Center

OU Faculty & Graduate Students

Faculty and graduate student access is granted based on an individual’s official status with the University of Oklahoma, as determined by Sooner Card data. Graduate student access will be granted to all affiliated with the Graduate College and the College of Law. Faculty access will be granted based on pre-determined academic job codes.

While most of this access will occur by default, on occasion, individuals may have multiple roles within OU that may require OU Libraries to manually provide access to the facility. Those responsible for teaching courses or conducting research will be granted access once library administrative personnel confirm the affiliation. For those seeking access beyond these typical roles, the OU Libraries Director of Public Services will review your application and make a determination of need.

PhD Candidates

Doctoral students who have completed their coursework, passed their qualifying exams, and are currently enrolled in dissertation credits may apply for access to the Faculty Focus Rooms, the Faculty Research Room, and other amenities available in the space. Please note that you must adhere to the Terms of Use listed below, or your access may be revoked.

Students in Accelerated Master’s Degree Programs

Students enrolled in an accelerated master’s program have the unique privilege of accessing the center while still classified as an undergraduate with the university. Please note that you must adhere to the Terms of Use listed below, or your access may be revoked.

Public Users

The Oklahoma Canyon Garden and Zarrow Center lobby are available to the public and can be accessed through Lower Level 2 of Bizzell.

Terms of Use

Students should refrain from allowing unauthorized users into the space. Students who abuse their access privilege by allowing unauthorized users to either use their OU ID or open doors for them may have their access revoked indefinitely. Per Sooner Card policy, an OU ID should only be used by the person to whom it is issued and will be confiscated if presented by someone other than the cardholder. Inactivity for more than ninety days may result in loss of access to the center. Students wishing to regain access will need to reapply.

Those who need to meet with undergraduate students should utilize the consultation rooms that are available in the common area of Lower Level 2 or meet with the students elsewhere in Bizzell.

How to Get Access

OU faculty and graduate students receive access by default. All other qualified individuals may apply online. To request access to the Zarrow Family Faculty & Graduate Student Center, please complete the Application for Access form. After you apply, library personnel will confirm your qualification and provide you access to the space via your OU ID. You will be notified once access has been granted.

A valid and functional OU ID is needed to access most areas in the Zarrow Center. Faculty and graduate students with confirmed access can check out a temporary access card from the main Circulation Desk for one day.
