Food & Beverage Policy
OU Libraries aims to provide comfortable academic spaces for the OU community while maintaining and preserving our library resources. This policy provides food and beverage guidelines for general library use. Some exceptions apply due to the characteristics of individual collections and facilities.
General Guidelines
We ask that you please follow these guidelines:
- Beverages are permitted in covered containers.
- Food is permitted in most areas of the Libraries. See below for locations where it is not permitted.
- Outside food delivery is NOT allowed.
- Clean up after yourself by disposing all food and beverage containers.
- Report crumbs and spills to security staff located at the West Circulation Desk or email the Libraries Facilities team.
- Be considerate of other visitors!
Exceptions Where Food Is Not Allowed
In the following areas, beverages in covered containers are permitted, but food is prohibited:
- Peggy V. Helmerich Great Reading Room (Bizzell)
- Youngblood Energy Library (Sarkeys Energy Center)
Exceptions Where Food and Drink Are Not Allowed
In the following areas, both food and drink are prohibited:
- History of Science Collections and other special collections (5th floor, Bizzell)
- Western History Collections (Monnet Hall)
