Fine Arts Library

The Fine Arts Library serves as the neighborhood library for the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts of the University of Oklahoma, supporting their mission to provide “excellence in arts education, scholarship, and creative activities, and the nurture of its students by maintaining a university environment in which the highest professional standards are exemplified through its faculty." It holds approximately 140,000 books, scores, and bound periodicals and includes a Media Resource Center where sound and video recordings are also collected.

Resources and Services Available

The collection of the Grant Fine Arts Library supports the creative and research endeavors of the Schools of Visual Arts, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Music. Holdings include catalogue raisonné, books, recordings, online resources, and musical scores for study and performance. 

Students and faculty may also check out a camera, Zoom audio or video recorders, microphones or a Theremin. Six MIDI keyboards with Finale musical notation software are also available.

Media Resource Center

The Media Resource Center, a Special Collection within the Fine Arts Library, is a working library of recorded (time-based) materials, including CDs, videos, digital audio tapes (DATs) and regular cassette tapes, digital video discs (DVDs) and long-playing records (LPs). These are available to anyone who wishes to use them within the Fine Arts Library. Additionally, faculty, staff, and students may also borrow some items for short periods.

Reservable Study Room

The Fine Arts study room can be reserved for small groups. It has a display, table, and chairs. 

School of Visual Arts Student Displays

Each semester the School of Visual Arts displays student work from foundational Core Studio I (Surface) and Core Studio II (Space and Time) courses in the Fine Arts Library. Tenured faculty in each degree area within SoVA review and assess the finished works yielding this exhibition of student work. Congratulations to the students whose work is selected.

Yes. OU Libraries books may be returned at Bizzell or any of the branches. You may also have books from other locations delivered here for pickup using Sooner Xpress

The Media Resource Center has recordings of most performances given at the School of Music since 1995 and some older recordings. They are listed in the Libraries’ catalog and may be searched by the name of the ensemble, conductor, or soloist. We can only provide copies of performances in which you were a participant. Please contact us for details. 

Yes, most commercial recordings are available for check out.

Yes, we have a variety of playback equipment for older media formats.

Yes, check out our available equipment. We also have umbrellas. 😀
