Courtesy Borrower’s Permit Policy
Any non-alumnus who is an Oklahoma resident and is not affiliated as a student, employee, or associate of the University of Oklahoma may apply for a Courtesy Borrower's Permit. This policy provides guidelines for eligibility, how to apply and privileges as a Courtesy Borrower.
Permit Overview
A Courtesy Borrower’s permit:
- Costs $50
- Is good for one year
- Allows you to borrow books from OU Libraries on the Norman campus
- Subjects you to the same fines as students
- Does not give you off-campus access to databases
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a Courtesy Borrower's Permit, you must meet all the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide proof of Oklahoma residency
- Show a valid photo identification (state driver's license, state I.D. card, passport, or military I.D.)
- Have no University of Oklahoma affiliation
- Have no unpaid bills at the University of Oklahoma
- Submit payment in exact change or check only
How to Apply
- Print and complete the Borrower's Permit Request Form.
- Submit the form and payment (exact change or check only) to the Circulation Desk at the west entrance of Bizzell Memorial Library during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Please be sure to bring with you proof of Oklahoma residency and a valid photo ID. You will be asked to present them at the desk.
